Curious Townsend’s Warbler

This little guy showed up on our deck about noon in May of 2010.  He was very inquisitive!  I don’t think he took one morsel of food from the feeder, but instead checked everything out very methodically and even peered at us through the window!

I wonder what he saw!?

If only we could know what was going on in that little bird brain of his!

  1. Their intelligence is likely well beyond what we’d imagine it to be. If he was looking for an excellent passport photo for his travels, he would certainly have been in luck!

    • lol! … I agree, maybe someday we’ll be better able to assess their smarts, along with other mammals. (while they assess ours…) until then we shouldn’t underestimate them.

  4. We have some pretty spooky mockingbirds around here. They monitor us closely any time we walk the dogs. Some years back, one of them had taken a dislike to sweet old Cheyenne (of blessed memory) and dive-bombed her often. I read somewhere that such monitoring is actually something mockingbirds do. Good question, about their intelligence!

    • Fascinating! I’ve been dive-bombed so I have sympathy!
